My Round Again
It's a lazy Saturday afternoon, gaming on the computer. Friends start to gather, the booze starts to flow, and then it's out the town for a session with the drinking buddies.
Vocals: Tamlan Dipper
I decided to go with an 80's hard rock sound for the feel of this. And then endlessly produce it. The music has about 11 guitar parts (up to 6 at any one point); the vocals feature Tamlan backing himself with 5 tracks during the chorus. Needless to say this took quite a lot of mixing. I wrote the lyrics in my car on a freezing cold March afternoon, while Tamlan did some metalwork in a shed. The song features various drinks and drinking holes in Swindon and Brighton. Oh and Brandy is the name of a dog... and what a name!
Thanks go out to David and Rebecca Nolland and Gareth Millwood for helpful comments: you guys hear things that I've heard so often than I don't register them as issues... I'm actually very pleased with how it all turned out. Especially the main guitar solo.
Lyrics
A gamer's life, a kill on line,
soldiers, zombies, sweeping mines,
Left 4 Dead and feeling fine,
In the gamer's seat.
Drinking rum, the great '19
A call, a text, the drinking team
Flaring feathers, fit to be seen.
A time and place to meet,
We take it out on the street... (so it's)
Beer as Honey at the old Bee Hive
Rum aplenty at St. James' dive,
By the station in the Evening Star,
Whisky short and it's my round again...
Reccy old town on Wood street,
Magnum Wine, butchers meat,
Back at barracks a roasted feast,
Cider ready to flow.
Guests and talk of battles fought,
Work in Reading, lessons taught,
Brandy petted, wine uncorked,
Getting ready to go...
Meet our friends for a drinking show.
Beer as Honey at the old Bee Hive
Rum aplenty at St. James' dive,
By the station in the Evening Star,
Whisky short and it's my round.
Bailey, Cointreau in the 52s,
Vodka, olives in a Kangaroo.
Salt and lemon and tequila fine,
shooters down and it's my round again.
Wine and whisky with an Irish stew,
Wine and whisky with a curry,
Wine and whisky brings the coffee though,
Pay the bill and it's my round...

And it's my round again...
Beer as honey at the old Beehive...
...By the station in the Evening Star...
